Connection possibilities for CRABTREE Consumer units
NOTES
There are several models of Crabtree consumer units, the most common found in domestic properties are Loadstar and StarBreaker Models , they also make Polestar and Powerstar, the later being commercial/industrial
It is essential to identify which model you are working on as the MCB's are not interchangable (see MCB fitment notes below)

Notes on MCB fitment
To identify the consumer units - Starbreaker Units will have MCB's with a model number starting 61/ for example a C curve 40 amp will be 61/C40
Older starbreaker units will not have a model code on the MCB but will have the Starbreaker label on the consumer unit and are compatible with the current Starbreaker MCB's are compatible
Loadstar MCB codes will start 6M - the older units were 6M1 the current range are 6MS/6FS/6HS all of these are compatible with LoadStar units of any age
6MS are 6kA MCB's - 6HS are 10kA MCB's
PoleStar MCB's will start 70. for example a 40 amp C Curve will be 70C/40
You may find the name Lifestar printed on some RCCB's on some units , Life star is a reference to the standalone RCD/RCCB range and not a consumer unit model
The very early range of Crabtree units SB6000 will not be labelled as any of the above they quite often have type 1 or type 2 printed on the MCB- they are compatible with Starbreaker MCB's but the units are 35+ years old (manufactured in the early 1980's) and it is not recommended

LOADSTAR
No A TYPE RCD's Available - Type AC only
POLESTAR
No A TYPE RCD's Available - RCBO only- not double pole switching
LIFESTAR RCCB's will have a model/part number starting 22 for example a 100Amp Type A part number is 221/A030- these are not compatible with Starbreaker/Loadstar or Polestar and are designed as stand alone RCCB's for din rail enclosures
UPGRADING RCD SIZE
STARBREAKER
Starbreaker RCCB's can be upgraded up to the main switch incomer rating providing that the existing RCCB's are 2 pole
Many of the earlier boards had 3 pole of 4 pole RCD's. The parts available are only 2 pole and the entire encapsulated Bus Bar would need to be changed to accomodate the new parts and would be a change in design of the consumer unit. It is possible but not reccommended. see additional picture below.
